Hiking in the Pillersee Valley in the Kitzbühel Alps

Over 400 kilometres of hiking trails are waiting for you in the Pillersee Valley. Many of these are also suitable for pushchairs.

The area in and around Hochfilzen offers a huge range of hiking routes to suit top fit mountaineers as well as pleasure hikers and families during your summer holiday in the Pillersee Valley.

Some hiking routes in Hochfilzen:

  • Grießner Moor: Protected landscape area and bird sanctuary. Pass the belt of reeds to the bird watching tower right on the romantic Lake Grießen. The terrace on the lake mountain pasture (with pub) invites you to stop for a while.
  • Römer Sattel (Roman Saddle): Hike along one of the old pilgrimage trails, past the biathlon complex in the direction of Römersattel (1205 m) to the Vorderkaser Gorge.
  • Kirchl (1692 m), under good weather conditions you can see seven churches from its peak.
  • Wildseeloderhaus (1854 m) - Fieberbrunn’s local mountain, the Wildsee is beautifully nestled among the mountains, perhaps take a detour over the Alpenblumenweg (Alpine flower trail).

Calling all climbing fans!

Climb on over 500 climbing routes and fixed rope routes, which bring you to the most beautiful places and highest peak of the Pillersee Valley. Steep rock faces, tricky fixed rope routes and challenging crags in varying levels of difficulty make climbing in Tyrol a real experience for all climbing fans, passionate hikers and nature lovers.

  • Klettergarten am Wiesensee (Wiesensee climbing crags) in Hochfilzen: several short and “challenging” routes at difficulty levels 3 to 8.
  • Klettergarten (climbing crags) Adolari in St. Ulrich a. P.: This climbing crag not only scores points for its diversity, but a rope bridge, rocky spurs and a flying fox also heighten the adrenalin kick! Here you can climb up to difficulty level 8. Whether you would like to take your first steps in climbing or are already a professional - in Klettergarten St. Adolari everyone finds a suitable route. Additionally, in Gasthof Adolari there is a topographic map. And if that is not enough, the landlord Thomas, who is also a keen climber, will offer some valuable insider tips.
  • Indoor climbing centre Freizeitpark Pillerseetal: An area of over 600 m² is waiting for all sport fans, who want to burn off some energy with climbing and bouldering - completely uninfluenced by the weather.
